About

Imaginary candy, made fresh daily.

JapanCandy publishes one brand-new fictional Japanese candy every day. The names, flavors, mascots and makers are invented by AI; the packshots are AI-rendered. None of it is for sale, because none of it exists.

How a candy gets made.

01A brief is drawn
Each morning the generator rolls a category, a region, a flavor base and a twist — say, a hard candy from Niigata built on amazake with a fortune inside — and checks it against everything already published.
02Claude writes the candy
Claude turns the brief into a full product: an original name in English and Japanese, the flavor, the texture, the packaging, an invented maker with a backstory, three facts and a pairing. It is told, firmly, to never use real brands.
03Nano Banana shoots the packshot
The written packaging description becomes a prompt for Google's Nano Banana image model, which renders a studio photograph of the package with a few pieces in front of it.
04It goes on the shelf
The candy is saved as a page on this site, permanently. Nothing is deleted and nothing is edited after publication, which is how you can be sure the weird ones are genuine.

Is any of this real?

No. Every candy, maker, mascot and price on this site is fictional. The regions and the snack culture they draw on are real; the products are not, and any resemblance to an actual product is a coincidence. If we have accidentally invented something that already exists, let us know and we will rename it.

How the site is funded.

Every candy page links to shops that sell real Japanese candy. Those are affiliate links: if you buy something after clicking one, the shop pays us a small commission and you pay nothing extra. That commission covers the AI bills that make the daily candy possible. We currently work with TokyoTreat, Japan Candy Store, Japan Candy Box and Konbini Stop.

We do not run ads, sell data or accept payment to feature a shop. If you would rather browse without the links, every candy is just as fictional without them.
